Last night, I had a pre-wedding movie viewing with a few friends of mine. There were 6 of us who met at Coventry's house in Magnolia to watch "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". The hope was that watching the movie would give Becky the chance to relate to how different families approach that wonderful wedding day. Obviously, it's not only the bride and groom's choice on how everything works.
Anyway, the party was after work so I bussed over to Magnolia. I went to the Metro timetable and scoped it all out. It was easy - jump on the #33 and in 25 minutes I'll be at Cov's house, which was exactly what how it worked. But the problem was, there wasn't a bus that ran from Cov's house in Magnolia to my house in Wallingford. So, I'd have to get back on the #33 and go downtown and transfer onto the #16 or #26 to get back home. The timetable forecasted over an hour for a 5 mile commute.
Ugh...I hate asking people for favors, but I did. I broke down and asked the Bride-to-be if she would take me home. Of course, she's a friend and didn't mind at all but I was mortified. If I had my own car, I could have been totally self sufficient. Instead, I had to break down and rely on someone else. Luckily, my house is on Becky's way home and we had lots of laughs along the way. But...I really missed my car today.
How do you feel about asking others for help?
